After five very happy years the Flytrap brand has been retired.  The club stopped running as a weekly event in Waterford City in August of 2005.  The promoters said "We've really enjoyed running the club over the last few years.   Now the Flytrap brand has come to the end of its natural shelf life.  It's time now for something new".

Waterford's LGBTQ scene still attracts a lot of people from the wider community throughout the South and South East.  Clubs very popular with Waterford's LGBTQ community include:

THURSDAYS:  BULLIT, THE BOWERY, THE QUAY, WATERFORD.

SATURDAYS:  SHAKEDOWN, THE BOWERY, THE QUAY, WATERFORD.

Both of these clubnights have long been considered gay friendly, even during the five years that Flytrap ran in Waterford.

More recently a new monthly gay night, BUBBLE (first Fridays) began at the Forum venue which will soon complete a substantial redevelopment at the West end of the city.

And in the last few months new club nights have begun in Kilkenny and Wexford (refer to GCN for more info).  So as you can see the South of Ireland is quite a bit more active than you may have thought!

We wish everyone in the community all the very best for the future and thank you for your support over the last five years.

Regards,

THE FLYTRAP TEAM
